According to the press office of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, a division of the state-owned high-tech company Rostec), Russia’s improved fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet had its inaugural flight.

The Su-57 is being improved by the Sukhoi Design Bureau within UAC. The modified fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft took flight for the first time on October 21 at the Gromov Flight Research Institute’s airstrip. Sergei Bogdan, a Hero of Russia, flew the aircraft as a test pilot for the Sukhoi Design Bureau. The flight took 56 minutes and was uneventful, according to the press office.
The press office noted that the Su-57 fighter plane is also testing onboard equipment with expanded functionality, crew intellectual support, and the potential to use a wide variety of new types of weaponry.
The press office stated that a second-stage engine may be added to the aircraft.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation multipurpose fighter manufactured in Russia that can obliterate any kind of surface, air, or ground target. It has the newest onboard technology, internal armament, a radar-absorbing coating, and supersonic cruising speed. The Su-57’s intelligence support system handles some of the pilot’s duties, including flying and getting the aircraft ready to fire.
