Watch as a cruise missile is shot down by the self-propelled anti-aircraft gun Gepard.

Recently, Ukrainian military published a video showing the German-supplied Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery system in action. Gepard is seen in this video shooting down a cruise missile that was purportedly used in a Russian attack on December 5.

Using this technique to shoot down a missile in midair is demonstrated in a video that has been making the rounds on social media. The rocket ignited and crashed to the earth in flames.

Gepard is designed to defend military units’ vital infrastructure from attack by helicopters and low-flying drones. The system has never before successfully shot down a cruise missile.

a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun built in Germany that is mounted on a Leopard 1 main tank chassis. Two Oerlikon GDF 35 mm automatic guns with 320 anti-aircraft rounds and 20 rounds of anti-tank ammunition, as well as two clusters of four 76 mm smoke grenade launchers, are installed in the Gepard complex. It has two radars, a tracking radar and a common search radar, a top speed of 65 km/h, and a range of 550 km.

The Gepard complex has an automatic fire control system that considers wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity. The user can save time thanks to all of this. Ukraine now has thirty Gepard self-propelled artillery systems from Germany.
