A pro-Russian official in Donbass said that the Ukrainian army has sent heavy weapons to reinforce the Krasny Liman front in the east of the country.
“We noted the mobilization on the Krasny Liman front with heavy weapons as well as engineering units of Ukraine. Armored vehicles, mine-clearing vehicles, automatic mine-clearing robots, and armored trailers have been deployed. recently sent to this area by Ukraine,” Andrey Marochko, an officer of the self-proclaimed pro-Russian separatist militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), told Tass news agency. on December 23.
In addition, Marochko also confirmed that based on intelligence from the LPR militia, the Ukrainian army is changing tactics in the Krasny Liman area. Accordingly, in order to balance the fire advantage with the pro-Russian forces here, Ukrainian soldiers have begun to install mortars and machine guns on civilian pickups to increase firepower and mobility.
In recent times, eastern Ukraine has become the main battleground in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Both factions are trying to control this area to create an advantage before winter arrives.
Earlier, on December 22, Mr. Marochko revealed that many Ukrainian special forces had been mobilized to relieve the “pan of fire” Bakhmut, one of the key battlegrounds in eastern Ukraine.
“The task of these special forces units is to counter our assault groups, establish a mobile defense system, thereby relieve the siege of Bakhmut and stabilize the situation of the Ukrainian army in the region.”, Mr. Marochko said.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on Mr. Marochko’s comments.
