Russia on January 28 accused the Ukrainian army of using HIMARS rockets to attack a hospital in the town of Novoaidar in the Lugansk region in the Donbas region, killing 38 people.
In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukraine’s attack on a hospital in the Novoaidar settlement controlled by Moscow was carried out using a US-supplied HIMARS missile launch system.
The ministry accused the Ukrainian army’s attack of a “war crime” that left 14 people dead, 24 patients, and medical staff injured.
According to the ministry, the hospital under attack has been a medical support facility for local residents and Russian servicemen for many months.
“A deliberate missile attack on an operating civilian medical facility is undoubtedly a serious war crime by Ukraine,” the ministry statement said.
“All those involved in the planning and execution of this crime will be brought to light and held accountable.”
The Ukrainian side has not yet responded to these allegations.
Kyiv and its Western allies have long accused Russian forces of “regularly committing war crimes” in the conflict in Ukraine that has killed thousands of civilians and turned cities and towns into rubble. by artillery and air raids.
However, Russia denies the allegations and says it does not target civilians.
