On January 30, Ukraine’s defense minister Oleksiy Reznikov declared that the country planned to invest 20 billion UAH (or $545 million USD) on unmanned aircraft (UAV).
Reznikov also made it apparent that the purchase and development of UAV programs is where the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is focusing its financial efforts.
After consulting with the General Staff and conducting examinations and tests, the Ministry of Defense decided to sign 16 contracts with domestic UAV manufacturers, according to Minister Reznikov.
According to Minister Reznikov, in 2023, the Ukrainian armed forces will purchase more unmanned aerial vehicles. Ukraine receives a sizable supply of UAVs from its allies, but the nation wants to encourage domestic manufacture in order to develop its own UAV force.
One component of the nation’s defense capability, according to Reznikov, is the defense industry’s independence.
Mr. Reznikov made the revelation in the backdrop of the growing importance of UAVs in the Russia-Ukraine war and the fact that both parties are using this weopon to their advantage.
According to Western experts, the employment of UAVs is continually growing on both sides of the conflict and this class of weapon is used throughout the entire battle process.
