Several villages in the vicinity of Bakhmut have allegedly been taken by Russian Wagner PMC

Within two kilometers of Bakhmut city’s center, the Wagner Group declared complete control over the Yagidne village.

After Berkhovka on February 24 and Paraskovievka on February 18, Wagner has just asserted control over Yagidne as the third settlement close to Bakhmut. In order to halt the Russian advance, the Russian side also charged Ukrainian soldiers with detonating a dam close to Bakhmut.

Since it is regarded as a key transportation hub supporting Kyiv’s forces in the Donbass region, the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region has been the scene of heavy fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces for a number of months. The Russian army will be able to attack other significant cities in Donetsk by using Bakhmut’s capture as a launchpad As of April 2022, Wagner, which was established in 2014, employed roughly 8,000 people. For use in the war in Ukraine, this firm has escalated the recruitment of convicts across all of Russia. According to Western intelligence, the Wagner members have sent tens of thousands of personnel to Ukraine and are therefore considered “Russian mercenaries.”
