At least 10 Iranian border police were killed this afternoon in a terrorist attack in the southeastern region of the country.

According to the Iranian Interior Ministry, the attack occurred in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan. Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police patrol in the Goharkooh area of Taftan County this afternoon.
Following the attack, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Mo’meni ordered the establishment of an investigation team comprising police commanders and Interior Ministry officials to determine the circumstances of the incident. As of the evening of October 26, no armed group had claimed responsibility for the attack. However, some Iranian and regional sources suggested that the terrorist group known as the “Army of Justice” (Jaish al-Adl) was likely involved.
This organization previously attacked an Iranian police station in Rask, also located in Sistan and Balouchestan province, in December 2023, resulting in the deaths of 11 police officers.
