Polish General Warns of NATO Scenario of Attack on St. Petersburg, Russia

Retired Polish general warns NATO will launch a long-range attack on St. Petersburg if Russia attacks the Alliance.

Former Polish Chief of the General Staff Rajmund Andrzejczak warned that Poland and its allies would immediately launch a long-range strike on St. Petersburg if Moscow attacked any NATO country bordering Russia.

Speaking at the Protect the Baltics conference in Vilnius, Lithuania, earlier this week, Andrzejczak, who led the Polish army from 2018 to 2023, warned that a Russian victory in Ukraine could have serious security implications for the US-led military bloc , especially countries that share borders with Russia.

“After a Russian victory in Ukraine, we will have a Russian division in Lviv, one in Brest and one in Grodno,” he said, pointing to the westernmost cities of Ukraine and Belarus. He added that in this scenario, Poland and Lithuania would be surrounded by Russian forces.

Mr Andrzejczak called on Russia to be deterred from carrying out a potential attack. “If they attack even an inch of Lithuanian territory, the response will be immediate. Not on the first day, but in the first minute. We will attack all strategic targets within a 300km radius. We will strike directly at St. Petersburg,” said General Andrzejczak.

According to the retired general, Poland must be “proactive” in deterring Moscow. “Russia must realize that an attack on Poland or the Baltic states would mean the end of them… That is the only way to deter the Kremlin from such an attack. To that end, Poland is buying 800 missiles with a range of 900km,” he said.

This is not the first time a Western politician has accused Russia of planning to attack NATO if Moscow wins in Ukraine.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin repeatedly denied this suspicion, emphasizing that Moscow had no benefit in doing so.
