The Houthi forces are planning a major attack from all directions on Israel amid concerns that Iran and allied armed groups will coordinate to retaliate against this country.
In an interview with Newsweek, Houthi spokesman Nasreddin Amer declined to specify the group’s involvement in a potential Iranian attack in retaliation for Israel, but stressed that they were drawing up “big plans.”
“In this period, we tend to talk less and act more. This is what I want the world to understand,” Mr. Amer said.
Previously, in an interview with Sputnik, Ali Al-Qahoum, a member of the Houthis, revealed that the retaliatory attack against Israel after the airstrike that killed the Hezbollah leader would be carried out from all sides.
The Houthis in Yemen are part of an “Axis of Resistance” alliance along with Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran-backed Islamist resistance groups in Iraq and Syria.
The groups have vowed to join Iran in a retaliatory strike after Israel was blamed for the recent assassinations of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.
Israel has admitted to carrying out an airstrike in the Lebanese capital Beirut on July 30 that killed a Hezbollah leader. However, Israel has so far not commented on the accusations of involvement in the assassination of the Hamas leader in Tehran.
Tensions between Israel and Iran and its proxies have raised fears of a wider conflict across the Middle East.
Diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent this scenario. In addition to closely monitoring every move of Iran and its allies, the US-led international coalition is also trying to persuade Israel to respond with restraint to Tehran’s attack.
“Don’t let things go too far. Think carefully before you respond. The ultimate goal is to avoid a full-scale war,” coalition officials stressed.
