Satellite images reveal damage to Russian UAV warehouse attacked by Ukraine

Satellite images show extensive damage at Russia’s Shahed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) warehouse in Krasnodar after a Ukrainian attack.

Satellite imagery from Planet Labs on October 11 shows the aftermath of a Ukrainian attack on a Russian military depot in Krasnodar on the night of October 9.

Accordingly, many fire streaks appeared, many infrastructures were damaged, in which at least one warehouse had its roof collapsed.

The Ukrainian General Staff said on October 9 that the country’s military attacked a depot of Russian Shahed UAVs near the village of Oktyabrsky in the Kranodar Krai region. The attack was carried out by the Ukrainian Navy and units of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

About 400 UAVs, equivalent to 5% of the number of UAVs Russia has used since the conflict broke out more than 2 years ago, were destroyed.

“According to the results of objective control, a precise strike was recorded. The destruction of the Shahed UAV storage base will significantly reduce the enemy’s capabilities in offensive operations against Ukrainian cities and villages,” the Ukrainian General Staff stressed.

Since late summer, Ukraine has increased attacks on arms and ammunition depots in Russian territory.

In August, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency said its agents had “blown up a large Russian ammunition depot” in the town of Voronezh. The depot reportedly contained more than 5,000 tonnes of ammunition, including tank and artillery shells, as well as surface-to-air missiles.

In early September, Ukraine attacked another ammunition depot near the village of Soldatskoye in Voronezh, destroying a large amount of Russian ammunition.

Ukrainian UAVs may have been intercepted by Russian air defense systems, but the flaming debris also caused fires and damage to Russian arsenals.
