Colombia’s military said two T-27 Tucano planes of the country’s air force collided in mid-air during a training flight near Apiay Air Base on July 2.
According to a statement by the Colombian Air Force, one pilot was killed in the collision.
“An investigation team has been dispatched to the scene to determine the cause of the collision,” the Colombian Air Force said.
A video on social media is said to have captured the moment of the incident. The planes were seen flying close to each other and for a moment the wing of one of them caught fire in the air.
At the time of the incident, the pilots were believed to be practicing for the air show, scheduled for July 20, in the city of Rionegro.
