Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the eastern battlefield and met with soldiers amid Kyiv’s counter-offensive operation against Russia.
President Zelensky on February 26 visited the Berdiansk frontline area in the east to meet with soldiers and commanders who are carrying out a counter-offensive to retake territory from Russia.
“It is very important to be here today. I thank you for defending Ukraine, fighting for our independence and freedom. Take care of yourself. If you can save lives You will protect Ukraine,” Zelensky said of his visit to Donetsk on Telegram.
In addition, the President of Ukraine also awarded some soldiers during this visit.
Zelensky said on June 26 that the Eastern Front was undergoing fierce fighting and that Ukrainian soldiers were taking on the most difficult job today.
Ukrainian officials say the country is in the early stages of a counter-offensive against Russia and has recaptured nine villages in the past month.
General Oleksandr Syrsky, commander of Ukraine’s ground forces, said the Kiev side was moving forward, but Ukrainian officials also acknowledged the battles were still fierce and Russia had stepped up its offensive into the east.
